Museum Lindengut
Villa Lindengut brings the history of Winterthur to life. Besides the historical museum the villa also accommodates the magnificent wedding chamber for Winterthur couples.
Nestled in a secluded park, Villa Lindengut is situated not far from the Old Town. It was built towards the end of the 18th century as one of the first residential houses beyond Winterthur's gates. Opulently decorated panelled ceilings and walls as well as painted tower stoves from local manufacture let the rooms shine in splendour.
The museum presents topics from Winterthur's history in ever-new exhibitions. Here objects from different eras tell stories of famous men and forgotten women, of outstanding craft enterprises and bygone industries. The comprehensive toy collection in the former coachman's cottage also has a special charm.
