Coin Collection and Antiques Collection
More than 200'000 objects from 4'000 years of the history of money are in possession of the coin collection and the antiques collection. These witnesses of the past are presented to the public in temporary exhibitions in the Villa Bühler.
The coin collection dates from the beginnings of the municipal library around 1660. Since 1982 the historic Villa Bühler houses the collection. The exhibitions present the cultural history of money from the beginnings of coinage until today. The antiques collection documents the antique Mediterranean cultures; parts thereof are shown periodically.
The museum gets involved in museum education and regularly organises concerts, lectures and days of action. Furthermore the prestigious premises of Villa Bühler are suitable for smaller group events with guided tour and aperitifs.
