Winterthur Museum of Nature
The natural scientific collections of old have been dusted and a family-friendly, snazzy museum of nature has emerged. Its exhibitions enable you to enter the fascinating realm of nature in a playful and informative manner.
The permanent exhibition helps young and old understand nature right on our doorstep. Alongside, temporary exhibitions provide additional emphases. They focus on native animals and plants, on their peculiarities and their history.
Here each exhibition is accompanied by various events such as field trips, concerts and workshops. The Kerala Kindermuseum (Kerala Children's Museum) brings nature closer to the little ones: listening to stories, hiding away in an oversized badger's burrow whilst pretending to be a badger or treasures of nature brought to the "drawer museum" ensure that there is never a dull moment.
The Museum of Nature is located in the same building as the Kunstmuseum Winterthur (Winterthur Museum of Art). Since its opening in 2005 it has been overwhelmed by praise and even received the "Prix Expo" museum award for "entering new territory in terms of museums".
