Kellenberger Timepiece Collection
With its astronomical clock the Kellenberger Timepiece Collection lays on a masterpiece of horology. Even future lunar and solar eclipses can be read off the clock face. The iron console clocks by the Winterthur Liechti clockmakers are also remarkable.
In the Kellenberger Timepiece Collection you will truly go on a "journey through time". The line-up of extraordinary timepieces extends from early instruments for observing the heavens and chronometry, sundials and sand glasses, gigantic wheel clocks and artistic clocks through to pocket watches and electrical timekeepers. The exhibition is divided into topics highlighting the different aspects of the history of timepieces.
Iron console clocks by the Winterthur Liechti clockmakers dating from the 16th and 17th century, Southern German artistic clocks from the Renaissance era and a significant collection of Swiss wooden wheel clocks dating from the 18th century are the focal point of the timepiece collection established in the "Gewerbemuseum". A restoration workshop, which can be viewed from the exhibition room, is attached to the collection; here the exhibits are maintained and restored.
