A jewel of the Swiss museum scene is located in an elevated position above Winterthur: one of the most distinguished private collections of the 20th century awaits you in a villa hidden away behind old trees in an idyllic garden.

The museum is closed because of renovation. It reopens on 31 October 2010.

Since 1951 the former grammar school at the city park houses around 600 pictures and drawings by Swiss, German and Austrian artists. We owe this to the Winterthur art patron Oskar Reinhart.

The museum remains closed from 2nd of August to the end of November 2010 because of renovation work.

Winterthur » Museum of Art
The Kunstmuseum Winterthur possesses one of the most beautiful modern art collections in Switzerland. The new building was built by the architects Gigon and Guyer.

The museum is closed from 6 September to 30 October 2010.

Winterthur » Villa Flora
For decades a visit to Villa Flora was a privilege, which was reserved only for the family of the owners and a close circle of friends. Thanks to private initiative by descendants of the collector couple Hedy and Arthur Hahnloser-Bühler, Villa Flora has been open to the public since 1995. Discover artistic highlights and typical home decor of the middle classes around the turn of the 20th century.

The museums is closed from 23 August until 10 September 2010.

Experimental art knows no bounds in this cultural institution, strongly rooted in the local area, yet cosmopolitan in outlook. The "Dritter Raum" ("Third room") provides space for meetings and a library with artists' publications from the London collection "Publish and be damned".

The collections by the gentlemen Briner and Kern left to the City of Winterthur are united in this small, exquisite museum in the town hall. Here Dutch art of the 17th century and miniature portraits are the focus.

With its pictures ranging from art to documentation of the ordinary, the Swiss Mecca of photography captivates not only hardened fans. Both contemporary and classical photography find a fascinating setting in the Museum of Photography.

The Fotomuseum is closed from 23 August until 11 September 2010.

Swiss Foundation of Photography Winterthur
In 2003 the Swiss Foundation for Photography moved its extensive collection from Zurich to Winterthur. Today, together with the Fotomuseum (Museum of Photography), it constitutes a highly regarded international centre of excellence for photography.

The museum is closed from 20 September until 1 October 2010. New exhibition starts from 2 October 2010.
