The former industrial area is flourishing: since the machines were shut off, the centrally located Sulzerareal has developed into a modern district, although the historic air of industrialism has remained.

Where formerly turbines and engines of international reputation were built now a new residential, employment, retail and leisure district is emerging. Modern building complexes with spacious lofts and innovative businesses alternate with impressive industrial buildings.
