From trading to high-tech location
We tell the story of where in the Middle Ages the mills on the River Eulach turned and later in workshops much admired clocks and fabulous tiled stoves were produced.
And of how Winterthur profited in the 19th century at exactly the right time and began to build up a powerful industrial empire. Today most of these factories have disappeared, to be replaced by a range of new, thriving high-tech companies. We would like to take you on journey in time through the industrial history of Winterthur and to show you how the city and its inhabitants have absorbed, adjusted and accommodated these changes.
