Hegi Castle

The castle was the tranquil residence of distinguished families for hundreds of years. If you would like to visit the castle today, you can do so as part of a museum visit.

The residential tower that was built in 1200, the Knight’s Hall -- a later construction -- and the outbuildings all belong to the well-preserved castle grounds. The castle’s interior transports visitors back to the late Ages: the furniture, stove, ceramic objects, painted glass and weapons chronicle the period between the 15th and 18th centuries.

Eating and Drinking

The “Schloss Schenke” or snack bar is open on weekends from May to October.
Opening hours are Saturdays from 14:00 to 21:00, and Sundays from 11:00 to 19:00.
In addition, a fire pit with a grill is available for visitors’ use.

The ProSpecieRara-Pflanzgarten at Hegi Castle in Winterthur is not a copy of a kitchen garden from the Middle Ages. With its modern structural style elements and interactive path, the garden is a new and contemporary interpretation.
